I grew up unaware of a church calendar. just christmas and easter. no calendar necessary. i've learned i need a small calendar. a reminder to pay attention.
i'm coming off a season of hard. watching relationships crumble because of presidents, refugees, opposing opinions shared without grace. there is no grace. i wrestle with personal choices and paths, that can shift the future. i watch random acts of violence in my community that steal life of the innocent. yesterday a 23 yr old nurse. murdered. my heart hurts. i watch a violent storm roll in this morning, leaving destruction... not so different than our tongues. we are like f5 tornados left to our own thoughts. life can be destructive and somedays we hold the flamethrower.
i watch the giraffe for 5 days. maybe because it is honest and though uncomfortable, she reminds me to do what i am called to do. do the one thing i was created for. not talking babies.
forty days of lent starts today. my choice... hope or despair. light or dark. faith or unbelief. every year i search for hope in the season of great hope. a season of truth. a season of forgiveness. the calendar simply points me to pay attention. i must still choose. no need to be of certain denomination or church attender to seek Him this way.
john is my focus. "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... there was a man named john...he was not the light, but he came to testify about the light... the True light Who gives light to everyone was coming into the world... The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. we observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth." (excerpts from john 1)
full of grace and truth. full of grace and truth. full of grace and truth. full of grace and truth.
He is FULL of grace and truth.
i will be a peaceful warrior as I seek Christ's forgiveness of my sin. grow me, mold me, change me... as i forgive others in this season of hope. i will be a peaceful warrior who seeks You and offers love in Truth and grace.
truth and grace. He is full of truth and grace,
each day we make the choice... it is reflected in our thoughts, our speak, our heart...
"A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of."
"But the things that come out of a person's mouth come from the heart, and these defile them." Matthew 15:18
"The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."
for out of my mouth you will see my heart... my goal is hope. full of truth and grace.
